FiregroundScribe Manager

The Manager runs on the FiregroundScribe PC, for Windows administrators. Open it from the Start menu or the hidden icons next to the clock (the ^). Closing its window keeps it there; right-click the icon for Open the web page or Exit. Its tooltip shows the status, and it pops up a notice if recording stops or the license lapses. Recording never depends on the Manager being open.

Updates

By default FiregroundScribe checks for updates every 6 hours and installs one when the radio has been quiet for 20 minutes, so an update never interrupts an incident. It stops for about a minute and starts again by itself; recordings and settings are kept. Change this in Manager → Updates: turn automatic installs off, or allow them only in a time window such as 02:00–05:00.

Backups

Manager → Backups → Back up now saves the database, recordings and settings to a zip file you can copy elsewhere; Restore from backup puts one back. Cloud backup (add-on) does this every night, encrypted, and can restore everything onto a new PC.
